About the role

We are no strangers to the incredible stories that data can tell us and the impact it can have on commercial success. We talk to our customers every day about how they unleash the power of their people data, and how it can inform and transform their absence management processes. We believe that Absence Intelligence is the next step for organisations wanting to revolutionise their people MI. In a really exciting new phase, we’re investing in our own data to help bring Absence Intelligence to life, and looking for a Data Scientist to join the E-days team.

In a newly created role, you’ll be working in close collaboration with our CTO and creating our data function from the ground up. You’ll get to grips with all the data we currently hold – a massive 15 years worth to get your teeth into – to order to create actionable insights, data visualisations and reports that feed directly into other business areas, like Product, Marketing, Sales and Customer Success. You will take on a bit of a data guru role, working cross-functionally with all internal teams to make sure that we best utilise the data sets we have, and identify opportunities for the future.

You’ll be designing your own pathway, creating projects where you feel they’re needed and we’ll support you to make sure you’ve got the analytical tools you need to work really innovatively.

Working with E-days, you’ll be part of a small but rapidly growing tech company ambitious to succeed and to revolutionise the world of work. We are truly customer-centric, listening to our clients to create a solution that grows with their business needs, alongside delivering a continuous release road map of functionality.

What you’ll be getting up to on a daily basis…

  • Take the Lead – Review data sets across the business to create strategic analytical projects; from absence data to customer feedback, take ownership of how we feed data into our business activities
  • Special Projects – Unearth the value of the data we process; set up projects alongside internal function leads that best utilises the data at our disposal; create hypotheses and test them; create dashboards and automations that keep data up to date, accessible and relevant to various stakeholders
  • Security First – Keep data security a key priority in all projects (we’re ISO 27001 accredited), being a security champion within project teams, and continuously developing improvements where needed
  • Internal Guru – Be the go-to source for internal data and insights; identify opportunities for better or new data collection; coach others in managing/analysing their own data sets
  • Knowledge of our system – Nurture an interest in our software and keep yourself continually up to date with the latest features and changes
  • Team-player – Collaborate with our internal teams to make sure communication is really smooth and efficient

If you’re our perfect person, you must…

  • Have a degree (or equivalent level qualification) in Maths or similar subject
  • Have an insatiable curiosity to read, identify trends, model and weave stories from complex data sets
  • Have solid experience in a previous analytical role, ideally within a SaaS business
  • Be proficient in SQL
  • Be an expert in data visualisation, dashboarding and analytical reports building
  • Thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic small business
  • Be tech-tools savvy (with experience of cloud tools like Salesforce, Tableau, Power BI etc) and a whizz on Excel
  • Have familiarity and experience with Machine Learning methods and techniques, including predictive analytics and data mining
  • Be proactive in identifying opportunities and confident to drive your own projects to completion
  • Have a real passion for technology and a commercial mindset
  • Have superb communication skills, with the ability to convey technical detail to others, both techies and non-techies alike
  • Be able to demonstrate actionable insights and where you’ve been able to impact change
  • Be fluent in secure data practices with up to date knowledge of legal processes around data protection
